When does school start for the 2018-2019 School Year?
School begins for all students in grades 1-12 on Tuesday, September 4. Pre-School and Kindergarten students will have an altered annual calendar all students beginning by Friday, September 7.
When will we know our child’s teacher for 2018-2019?
Students in grades 4-6 will have homeroom teachers, but will be departmentalized in grade level-teams of teachers who will teach the various “subjects.” Students in grades K-3 will be taught in self-contained classrooms which means the teacher will teach all the subjects within their individual classes with the exception of specials (Art, Music, P.E. Tech, etc.). Class lists will NOT be posted on the doors as they have been in the past, but instead families will be contacted by their teacher prior to the start of the school year. A tentative date has been established as August 28, 2018 – one week prior to the beginning of school for students.
If our child is in grades 3-6 will they have the same teachers all year?
Yes. Students will begin the year with the same teachers they will have throughout the school year including specials (Music, Art, P.E., Technology).
Will “ALL” students be bused to the new Elementary buildings including the students who will be attending Allen and Tiffin?
While we will “shuttle” students who ride on the routes TO/FROM the Allen and Tiffin Elementary buildings for those first couple months, it may be best to answer that Ohio Law requires schools to transport students living more than 2 miles from school. Our goal is to exceed that requirement by transporting students living more than 1 mile from their schools, but because of the transition at the beginning of the year it may be difficult to say “all” students. We certainly will meet the state requirement and do our best to ensure that we are providing all students with the transportation services they need. Yours is a great question, and parents with specific situations and questions can send their questions to [email protected] or call us at 740-775-4250.
